August Gorman, PhD

Post-doctoral fellow, Engaging Ethics Initiative Program Lead

August Gorman is a postdoctoral researcher for the Ethics Lab. They serve as an Ethics Lab resource for curricular design initiatives, teaching, and outreach projects. They received their Ph.D. from USC in 2018. August's research explores the role that a person’s relationship to their own motivations plays in normative domains. They approach these questions by focusing on unique sorts of relationships a person can have to their own motivations (for example: due to suffering from clinical depression, having a radically long or short lifespan, or having Tourette syndrome) in the service of developing more nuanced models of agency, responsibility, and well-being.
